Picturing the land of The free and brave
Along long time ago, the world (United states of America) was a very different place.
There was no Las Vegas, no Britney and no botox. Despite the lack of such, America was very attractive among emigrants looking for new land.
After leaving Norway, Mina Westbye settled in this small shack on the prairie all by her self. To claim the property, she had to live on it for three consecutive years.
The clamming-years left lots of time for taking pictures, looking at the stars and writing letters to the love of here life Alfred Gundersen, an intellectual fellow Norwegian studying at Harvard.
Besides being a settler, she was a woman of great dreams. Once the property was claimed, she planed to sell it and live the rest of her life as a photographer.
Unfortunately love came her way. She married Alfred and lived a presumably happy life as a wife, never taking another picture.
